Summertime Capsule Wardrobe Update Inspiration
Summertime Capsule Wardrobe Update Inspiration
It is officially that time of year - time to put away the dark and heavy clothes from the cooler months and pull out the lighter, brighter fabrics of summer. Whenever I pull out my clothes from previous years, I like to give them a once over, donating anything I no longer have an interest in wearing and replacing any holes the donation pile left with updated items. I am definitely not one for "fast fashions" but I do like to look put together with a combination of colors, patterns and fabrics that make my wardrobe uniquely mine.
This year, I took to Amazon to see what styles I want to add to my capsule wardrobe that would add flare not only for this summer, but several summers to come.

Dresses
The basic piece to my daily "uniform" is always some kind of dress. I like ones with a flare to the skirt and that don't cling to my stomach in the event of endo-belly. I am also a sucker for color, especially as the temps heat up, so I do like to include one or two items with a pop of color.
Cardigans
Even though the outside temps in my city can reach triple digits with high humidity during the peak summer months, I always have a cardigan paired with my outfit of the day because the AC in stores can get quite chilly when I am running errands! Instead of the thick sweaters I wear in the winter, I opt for lighter weights and more crocheted styles.
Under Layers
You might not think that summer is the time for leggings or a camisole or tank top under dresses, but these are items I am never without and replace most often. By wearing something light under my dresses, I keep any sweaty skin from having direct contact with the rest of my outfit (which adds longevity to my dresses). Additionally, I wear some sort of legging or bike shorts under all my dresses, regardless of length, to prevent potential Marilyn moments. It only takes one gust of wind to make you accidentally show your undies to the world, so I try to avoid such accidents. (Also, if you are blursed with thick thighs like me, leggings can help any chaffing from summer heat mixed with walking friction.)
Any of these styles finding their way into your summer wardrobe this year?
Until next time, my lovelies!
