Homemade Cottagecore Holiday Gifts

The holidays are here and it is time to get into the gift-giving frame of mind. But if you are like me, it can feel a bit hollow just giving things bought at the store or online. Don't get me wrong, I still love me some cute stuff from the store and in my last post I even shared several cottagecore holiday gift ideas that you could purchase (or ask for) this holiday season, but today I am sharing holiday gifts you can make! Because what is more cottagecore than homemade? And really, who doesn't love a thoughtful homemade gift?

Also - soooo sorry this is late! I have been dealing with a flare-up and went from ahead of schedule to behind for like 2 weeks overnight. Such is the life of  the chronically ill!

Garden Starts

Whether it's herbs, veggies, or flowers, for an indoor or outdoor garden, garden starts are a lovely and thoughtful gift, especially if you grew the seedlings or plants the seeds originated from. But even if you hit up the local garden center and pick out the plants, seeds, and pots, it is still an incredibly thoughtful gift for the green thumb on your list.

Fire Starters

DIY fire starter recipes are all over Pinterest because they are super easy to make. You can use dryer lint, sticks or even pinecones with twine dipped in wax. If you are really creative, you can make your loved ones a variety basket of starters with different scents. Note - don't use things like colored, coated, or magazine paper due to toxic fumes and always ALWAYS be careful when lighting a fire.

Food You've Preserved or Made

Jellies, jams, tomato sauce, dried herbs, pickles, jerky, beer, wine, bread, the list can go on! If you made it, it makes a delicious and thoughtful gift. Put a few jars and bottles in a basket with a note on how to use/keep them and you are good to go! Even better, your friend will think of you every time they take a bite or sip!

Dried Mixes

Similar to the item above, dried mixes like soup, cocoa, pancake mix, or dips are fun, shelf-stable gifts that will bring a smile to your loved one's face whenever they whip up a batch of your famous hot cocoa. Be sure to include how to prepare everything and any storage information with your mixes. (This is also a great way to use up old sauce and pickle jars for items that do not need canning.)

Knitted/Crocheted Items

Scarves, mittens, hats, blankets, all things of warm! These are perfect winter holiday gifts because everyone loves being cozy and snugglely once the temps drop. Even if they look less than perfect, the thought and care you put into the gift will show.

Until next time, my lovelies!
